The Crossroads of Chance, our recent documentary about olive-oil production, will World Premiere at the 24th edition of Sonoma International Film Festival.
Named “One of the 25 Coolest Festivals in the World” by MovieMaker Magazine, SIFF showcases the best film, food, wine and fun. The Crossroads of Chance forms part of the Official Selection and will be competing alongside one hundred independent films from more than 35 countries. This year SIFF takes place from 24-28 March, 2021, as a five-day virtual festival, with films available to view online in the United States.
The Crossroads of Chance is a homage to the pioneers who have revolutionised olive-oil production over the last 25 years. As the film unfolds not only do we journey across four continents but through time, learning how an ancient craft was brought into the 21st century on scale unimaginable only a few decades ago. A host of key characters including small-holders, academics and some of the world’s biggest producers, from Morocco, Tunisia, California, Portugal and Chile, look back on the risks they took, the criticism they endured, the force of their determination and the scale of cooperation needed to bring their vision to life. The Crossroads of Chance celebrates those who were willing to take a chance, tread the path unknown and have left their indelible mark on the history of agriculture.
