This week marks the start of film production for period documentary The Builders of the Alhambra by director Isabel Fernández. Shooting in the city of Granada and in the iconic Alhambra Palaces, the feature-length film is a unique project that will rebuild the Nasrid society of 14th century Andalusia for the first time.
The cast for The Builders of the Alhambra stars in the role of as Ibn al-Khatib actor Amr Waked, renown for Syriana, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, and Lucy where he starred alongside Scarlett Johanssen and Morgan Freeman. To re-create the sumptuous décor and costume of the Nasrid society, the creative team brings together Art Director Llorenç Miquel and Costume Designer Virginia Serra. Cinematographer Tote Trenas and VFX Director Jordi Costa are tasked with shooting and integrating the live action and digital art design.
The Builders of the Alhambra is produced by El de las dos vidas AIE, Al Pati Producciones and Polar Star Films.
