After winning the Biznaga de Plata for Best Direction at the Malaga Festival, and being a candidate for the Goya and Gaudi awards, DÚO is finally available on Filmin and Vimeo on Demand.
The film portrays the alienation of two dancers confronting an unknown world that calls into question the meaning of their relationship and artistic endeavours.
In DÚO the filmmaker returns to the story of Mónica, the dancer and main character from her film Facing the Wind. Now, she has left her small Spanish town and is on tour with her partner through northern Argentina, performing a dance show.
DÚO, is Meritxell Colell’s second feature film, which came about, in the words of the director, from “the need to follow the character of Mónica -after Con el viento-. Accompany her on a new trip back to Argentina and on a contemporary dance tour in remote territories where art is linked to life, because every transformation opens a new crisis”.
“Duo is one of the films that, like Alcarràs, should remain in the memory of this twenty-fifth Malaga Festival” (Enric Alberom, El Español)
“A story about heartbreak but also about the need to find peace with oneself, not just individually but with others” (Laura Martínez, Cadena Ser)
“A trip through the north of Argentina is the filmmaker’s excuse to sign a masterpiece” (Matías G. Rebolledo, La Razón)
