We’re delighted to announce that Facing the Wind (Con el viento) has been selected for the San Sebastián-Gipuzkoa Film Commission Award
at the forthcoming 66th edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival this month. After winning awards at Malaga and D’A, as well as showing at 11 festivals world-wide so far including the Berlinale, the film reaches SSIFF, one of the world’s most important international film festivals. Facing the Wind will be showing in the selection “Made in Spain” alongside ten other productions including films by Daniel Calparsoro, Isabel Coixet, Álex de la Iglesia, Ramón Salazar and David Trueba.
Facing the Wind is Meritxell Colell’s feature film debut and was shot entirely on location in Spain and Argentina. The film was recently premiered in Cinema Gaumont in Argentina, one of the production countries, here are some of the first impressions from the Argentinian critics:
• A precise and intimate portrait of what it means to return to the family after a long period of change and a way of living completely different to that of the city.
And this is not the only cause for celebration; Meritxell Colell and Polar Star Films have been selected to partake in the San Sebastian’s industry event: Europe-Latin America Co-production Forum with DUO, a new feature film project that delves further into the discourse of emotions, geographies and dance embarked on with Facing the Wind.
