Last week, the international short film and animation festival Mecal invited Polar Star Film’s executive producer Carles Brugueras to hold a masterclass on how to finance a short film without losing money.
Carles, who has a special passion for shorts and tries to produce at least one a year, answered many of the questions that often arise when we embrace a project like this: What should a short film encompass? What are the benefits of shooting a short film if it there’s no profit? How to minimize losses? How much does it cost? How do I finance it?
The masterclass, which was moderated by Roberto Barrueco and Sara Xiol and organized thanks to the collaboration of the Barcelona Documentary Club, was a complete success, with more than 100 participants from countries as diverse as Spain, United Kingdom, Mexico, Argentina, the United States, Finland and Greece.
If you missed it, you’re in luck because thanks to Mecal we have it online and you can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w7gJT-AE9Y
