My name is Violeta’s great reception at DocsBarcelona consolidates with the award of two prestigious prizes: the Audience Award and the Amnesty International Catalunya Award (AIC).
The Amnesty International Catalunya prize, which the AIC awards for the fifth time, distinguishes the film for its defence of human rights in the struggle to transform reality and its high cinematographic value. The jury thus justifies the award: “Transsexuality is a social taboo that often entails rejection, discrimination and violation of the rights of trans people. Amnesty distinguishes this documentary because it shows the limbo that transgender people face in an agile and positive production, as well as making visible their normalization, and contributes to the construction of a fairer, more open and inclusive society. ”
My name is Violeta, directed by Marc Parramon and David Fernandez de Castro, is a co-production between Polar Star Films and Mediapro, in collaboration with DKiss and Movistar +, with the support of ICEC.
