Polar Star Films is an independent film and television production company based in Barcelona and established in 1997. We specialise in feature-length documentary and fiction film productions, digital content and advertising.
Our international co-productions have been commissioned by broadcasters such as ARTE, ARD, ZDF, BBC, France Télévisions, SWR, Al Jazeera, Knowledge, RTVE and Televisió de Catalunya. Our films have received funding and support from Eurimages, Creative Europe Media, ICEC, ICAA, CNC, INCAA, Cinéfondation L’Atelier, Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, Sources 2 and EAVE as well as other national and local institutions.
Polar Star Films’ productions have won numerous international awards, including the Silver Jasmine Branch (Best Film, Málaga), Audience Award & Amnesty International Award (DocsBarcelona), FIPRESCI (Jury Prize at Hot Docs), the PBS Independent Lens Award, Prix Europa and the Max Ophüls Prize. Our films have been screened at festivals such as at Sundance, Berlinale, Sheffield Doc Fest, Docs MX, CPH:DOX and many more.
