The director of fiction feature-film Con el viento (Facing the Wind) wins the SILVER JASMINE FOR BEST DIRECTION in the ZonaZine Section for her new film DÚO at the 25th edition of the Malaga Film Festival.
Meritxell Colell delighted audience and jury alike at the World Premiere of her feature film DÚO, produced by Polar Star Films. Along with DÚO, Polar Star Films’ other screenings were also festival successes, notably the JURY SPECIAL MENTION for the documentary short film When the Mountain Rumbles and a sold out national premiere of the long-awaited documentary feature film McCurry The Pursuit of Color.
After Con el viento, Meritxell Colell was clear that she did not want to leave the character of Mónica behind and decided to create DÚO, a new story that accompanies Mónica on her return trip to Argentina, taking up contemporary dance with her partner in remote territories where art is linked to life. This film reveals the unreal of a yearning that no longer exists in the couple. “The idea was to dig into what happens to her after that transformative moment of her return home and how this generated a search for herself,” said Colell at the Festival.
The theatrical release is scheduled for September this year and new festivals and screening will be announced soon.
DÚO is produced by Polar Star Films in co-production with Pensilvania Films, Paraiso Production and Manufactura de Películas.
