The documentary project The Builders of the Alhambra has been awarded MEDIA TV Programming funding.The feature film, by director Isabel Fernández, is a unique project that will rebuild the Nasrid society of 14th century Andalusia for the first time.
Going into production in 2021, The Builders of the Alhambra tells the story of the men and women who built the emblematic fort, as they strove to reach the formula for perfect beauty. The feature-length documentary will bring together technology and history, archeology and digital rendering. It will recreate the Nasrid society of 14th century and the construction process of the Comares and Leones palaces, giving value to the scientific knowledge that Andalusian scholars have left us in disciplines such as astronomy, mathematics, medicine, agronomy or navigation.
The Builders of the Alhambra is produced by El de las dos vidas AIE, Al Pati Producciones and Polar Star Films. With the participation of RTVE, ORF, ARTE/ZDF and Aljazeera Documentary Channel. In collaboration with SVT, Ceská Televise, MTVA Hungary, TV Slovakia and RTV Slovenia.
